JoJo Jones is a former All-American football player, championship coach, and respected community leader whose life’s work is rooted in excellence, service, and opportunity. Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, JoJo’s journey from standout athlete to mentor and philanthropist reflects a lifelong commitment to leadership on and off the field.

Early Life & Education

A native of Savannah, Georgia, JoJo Jones attended Bible Baptist School, where he excelled in both football and basketball. His athletic ability and work ethic earned him a full football scholarship to Olivet Nazarene University in Chicago, Illinois, where he began his collegiate football career.

After two years at Olivet Nazarene, JoJo transferred to Lambuth University in Jackson, Tennessee, where he completed the final two years of his college career. He graduated in 1995 with a degree in Speech Communications, while also minoring in Spanish and Japanese, reflecting his early commitment to communication, culture, and leadership.

Collegiate Football Legacy

JoJo Jones played college football all four years and established himself as one of the most accomplished players in collegiate history. He earned All-Conference honors all four seasons and was selected to four All-American teams, including two-time NAIA All-American, Kodak All-American, and American Coaches Association All-American.

During his collegiate career, JoJo set seven national rushing records, including 69 career touchdowns, breaking a long-standing record previously held by Walter Payton. In recognition of his impact both on and off the field, the Mayor of Jackson, Tennessee proclaimed January 26th as “JoJo Jones Day.”

Professional Playing Career

Following college, JoJo pursued a professional football career that spanned the United States and Europe. His professional experience includes playing for the San Diego Chargers of the NFL, the Memphis Mad Dogs of the Canadian League, the Amsterdam Crusaders of the World League, and Germany Express of the European League.

Coaching & International Leadership

After returning from retirement, JoJo transitioned into coaching, where he quickly found success as a leader and strategist. In 2009, he led the Hamburg Wild Huskies to a second-division championship, followed by a first-division championship with the Amsterdam Crusaders in 2010.

JoJo’s international impact continues today. He has been sanctioned to coach American football in Accra, Ghana, where he trains and prepares young athletes for high school, college, and professional opportunities in the United States.

Community Service & Youth Development

Since 2011, JoJo has dedicated himself to community service and youth development. He serves as the all-sports Athletic Director at the Frank Callen Boys Club, where he mentors student-athletes and helps enhance their lives through structure, discipline, and opportunity.

JoJo also operates All Choice Recruiting, a company focused on developing scholarship opportunities for young athletes who aspire to become productive student-athletes at the university level. In addition, he works seasonally as a camp director for the Atlanta Hawks, Braves, and Falcons, helping young athletes grow through elite sports programming.

Media Recognition & Honors

JoJo Jones has been featured on major media platforms including ESPN, BET, and CNN, and in publications such as College Sports Magazine and Sports Illustrated.

On August 9, 2025, JoJo received a Presidential Award for Community Service and Lifetime Achievement at Howard University in Washington, D.C. He has also been nominated to the Savannah, Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, recognizing his lasting contributions to athletics and the community.

Faith, Family & Values

JoJo is an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and his faith plays a central role in his approach to leadership and service. He is a proud father of three children — Dallas, Jagger, and Axel — and believes strongly in leading by example.

Widely regarded by colleagues as an athlete, gentleman, and traveled scholar, JoJo Jones continues to inspire others through integrity, discipline, and a commitment to uplifting the next generation.
